Approximately fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Police then located many other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement report early analysis indicate the liquid was probably human blood.
"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; investigators are not yet informed of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they added.
Local authorities announced they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the community for details.
An important official stated the attack left him stunned and required to be addressed rapidly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on online, referring to the murder of nine victims by a shooter aiming at residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
